Rich Cook > The loons were plentiful at the Slates.
Rich Cook > The Slates are known for their Woodland Caribou. They arrived at the Slates in the early 1900's when Lake Superior froze over.
Rich Cook > The Islands support a herd of between 250 and 500. We saw several along the shoreline as well as a couple that walked through our camp at the Come 'N' Rest.
